I assume this is at idle... does it act the same if you depress on the throttle?

 

New plugs in it?

 

it will run with throttle opened up but wont substain a high rpm, also it wont idle. ill let it run awhile and the left clylinder is cold. pull the plug and a bit of smoke rolls out and the plug is covered with gas.
i switched the plugs and put different plugs in and no difference.
but it seems to run alittle better when i witch the wires from the cdi but stll the left cylinder is dead.
not seeing any leakage from the crank bearing on the clutch side
is it firing on the wrong revolution?
is there a way to check the CDI ?

im gonna try that cuz i have no idea what else it could be?
but seems a little odd that when i switch the wires still no firing in the left side, but im not sure if thats the route to take when checking for good spark.
and i dont know how the CDI pack functions.

Another thing to try first.
Unscrew the wire end caps and clip off 1/4" and then reattach them. You might just have center burn out and this will fix it.

maybe clogged muffler on that side?

seems to me if i swithced the plug wires why would'nt the other cylinder fire?

well i cut ends of and walla!
for a couple minutes, THEN the other cylinder went cold:thumbsdown:
is that asure sign of a bad CDI?

i thought maybe a ground issue so i checked all the wiring and found a cracked one , fixed it but no change

is it time to buy a new CDI?

Not CDI, Coil is bad.

Single coil for both plugs, it can short across and switch sides/wires.
replace coil.

but the wife already ordered aCDI for me off ebay for 39.99
i'll just sell it back on ebay or use it, maybe keep as a spare since the price was right.
NOW, about the coil; how hard is to get to?

are you talking about the exciter coil attached to the stator?
