I just bought this sled and am wondering if there is anything I should look out for. It has pretty low miles for the year at under 2500. The only thing that I saw wrong with it was the sliders may need replaced soon. Also, the plastic is discolored in one spot like something hit it, but it's not cracked up or anything. The snowmobile has a pretty good track with almost new studs. Are there any known problems with these that I could fix before it costs way more money?

They were pretty good sleds. You can replace th slitders by pulling them right back through the track windows. No suspension removal necessary!

Ok so they didn't have any major failure? I am going to change the sliders this summer and make sure I don't strip the bolt that holds them in if that's how it's set up. I have seen a couple people post that the stripped it out and had to buy new rails.

I picked up a '97 F3 600 LT this winter and like the sled. I have heard at Doo Talk and here that the sleds like the higher quality oil (I run klotz techniplate) and need the higher octane fuel (91 miniumum). Be sure the carbs are synchronized, the air screws set to the correct turns out (which I have written down some where) and enjoy. My only complaint, so far, is the throttle pull is a little strong so long rides can get tiresome for the right thumb.

Do you have to run 91? or the performance is just better when you run higher octane? I am probably going to run Yamalube because I have heard it's pretty good. I am probably going to get the carbs ready over the summer. So yours hasn't had any major problems?

if you do alot of trail riding, you are going to love the sled. as far as oil goes, if its a decent oil, I don't think it will matter. I prefer Amsoil, just because it seems to be cleaner on the exhaust valves. The FIII 700 is a great trail sled, and is more than capable off the trail, but its not the lightest. I would definately recommend finding reverse to put in it if it doesn't have it already. That and a 2" riser, I am kinda tall, so the riser was a great addition for me, made me feel less hunched over. One thing to watch out for is the wiring harness runs under the engine and can sometimes rub and short out. If you can, try to make sure the harness hasn't been pulled or stretched at all and isn't rubbing on anything with an edge. other than that, just general service and you will be good to go.

I am not going to be on the trail too much, maybe just a couple trips with some friends. I have heard that the higher quality oil the better. I don't really want to spend extra money on it, so I will probably just dig it out instead of installing reverse. I will check the harness also, because I have seen the harnesses go for a lot on ebay.

Is 150 pounds compression in this motor good? All 3 cylinders have the same. I just didn't know if this motor is supposed to have more or not. I know my other ones ran on 120 lbs, but it seems like Ski Doo always has higher compression then other brands.
