I have to be honest its probably do for one now. My rule of thumb is anything over 20 years old with high or low miles I would replace the crank seals to. Just because the compression is good doesn't always mean that the pistons themself aren't wore out. I've seen piston skirt cracking on some of those srv 540's with less miles than you have and their compression was ok. I must say those 540's are great running engine's and for the most part bullet proof.

 

ya i agree its probably time to do it soon here, ill do crank seals too are those srv's hard to split the case? ive done it on el tigre's many times but never an srv.

 

The clutch will have to come off to even get the engine out!

 

Ya I know. Will need a yaha clutch puller. This is a next summer project

 

case will split just like your ac, you shouldnt have any problems there.

if you end up needing parts, i have some fresh pistons along with cylinders that have yet to be fired hanging around somewhere.
