The polaris site sucks so please dont leave a link. Can anyone tell me if this is a 93 AND how to decode the vin? All I find are links to nothing that works. I know some were built pre 93 to work out any remaining bugs after testing. The production date is 0121992. Vin# 2073386
Thank you in advance

Production date = 92, but that usually means it is a 1993.

yeah, Polaris locked down their VIN site so you have to have the original owners name in order to find it. These 90's XLTs are often on their 2nd or 3rd owner so who knows.

Just before they locked it down, I did a search for my old XLT and it did give a lot of info that really should not be public, so I understand why they blocked it, but it would be nice if they just had a sub-set of the information available to the public.

A dealer can look it up.

Information that is included:

Where it was purchased
Who was the original purchaser, sometimes listed address.
Date of the original purchase
Make/model/options

So really the only info there that should be blocked from public is the original purchaser and his/her address.

I use the build date and/or the model number. As Bear said a 92 build date makes it a 93 model year machine and if you look at your model number you will find the 93 as part of it. I the shop manuals there is a chart that breaks down the model number into the specifics of that machine. Sometimes what you currently have is not what it originally started life as. The shop manual for that machine has been posted as a sticky by Josk Kidner on this site.

Thats where I was with it all. Well it was dropped off in my buddies yard almost 2 years ago and never came back for it and never paid the storage so I picked it up for next to nothing. Needs some tlc, 5000 miles and 110psi across all 3 holes. Checked the drive chain and it was grease and slightly chunky so a replacement will have to happen.
All I was looking for is a color and accessory info for this sled so I can put it back the way it was.
I do appreciate your help, thank you
