Hey Phazer fans! I just cleaned up some wiring mess on my 88 Phazer that the previous owner had created. I replaced the wiring harness, and removed the aftermarket hand grips/warmers and the mess that went along with it. I just received the OEM hand grips/warmers and wires attached, but I'm not sure what wire I'm looking for on the harness that comes out behind the plastic shroud at the steering column.Any help? Also the directions that came with the hand grips recommended an in line resistor. Is this necessary?

if you have a factory hand warmer switch, trace the wires from it. yellow/black wire is the power from the mag, yellow/red wire is the power to the warmers. wire one wire from one grip to the yellow/red wire, the other wire from that grip to one wire on the other grip, and the remaining wire goes to a ground or any black wire. use the supplied resistor that came with the grips if there is not one on the sled already.

Thanks! Found yellow/black wire and black ground. Looks like fairly easy install. Did not come with resistor, but will pick one up. I think I will use on/off switch instead of hi/low switch. My son rides this sled and he wants heat, don't see a reason he'd want low heat. Thanks again.

i would recommend using the high/low/off setup. you may be surprised at how hot those really get. i have a few switches and resistors laying around from past projects, original hot grips brand, if your interested. used to be everytime i bought new grips they came as a kit with switches and resistors.

The most recent Phazer(I ride) that I picked up at the end of the season last year, has working hand warmers, and even thru decent gloves, they are hot. I probably will put a high/low switch on, its my sons sled. Thanks!
