Yeha buddy unfourtantly all the srxs were junk ! they had a major design flaw , i think they called it yamaha? haha jk man , yeah the srx perform well , my buddys dad had one and it would do 220 kmh. But it was clutched and piped and so forth. Good luck nothing like buyin a new sled!

One of the earlier years of 700 had a crank problem. It was somewhere around 98 or so. May want to look into that.

What chassis Doo are you coming off of? You may be sorely disappointed with the suspension in opposition to it. The SXR's had a little more friendly suspension, but didn't have the power valves and triple pipes. So that SRX will have the added power and performance, but suspension absolutely sucks. A good middle ground is the SX Viper which I believe had Power valves, single pipe, and an updated suspension.

Other than the cranks, they are very good motors. Surprisingly efficient and very powerful.

sxr hoods wont fit srx's and vice versa. two completely different sets of plastics on the bellypans as the srx's were noticabely wider than the sx chassis.

like i mentioned, something fishy about the way that sleds being represented. the srx and sx's are completely different in both engine and chassis. but, if its an sx with different hood and trailing arms, its still a good sled if the price is right.

look at it even closer than you normally would.

also i might be doing this wrong but i tryed to do a comppresion test today and it seems i might just have to rebuild it some.. looks as tho its burning alot of oil from the white and blue smoke im seeing and the comppresion in all 3 cyclenders were at 25... But agin i might have been doing it wrong. THink the sled has to be started and then take the plugs out and put the gage on one by one while running right? i forget its been awhile..

Remove all plugs, hold throttle wide open and pull until the needle stops rising.

yeah don't think at 25psi it would be running at all. smoke will go away some when it warms up. but its a 2 stroke so it will smoke some.

120 to 135 is less than 9%.
Within 10% is acceptable.
You may only have a stuck ring. Put some penetrating oil into that lower cylinder and let is sit at least 24 hrs, then test again.
