Which would you pick between a:

  • 93 Exciter II SX570, 2900 miles, good condition... OR a
  • 96 vMax 600xt with around 3000 miles, good condition.
Would one be a better sled to ride for any particular reason? (Comfort, handling, speed, etc). What about "to own" as far as reliability, maintenance, longevity, parts access, etc?

I recently picked up this 93 Exciter but only had a brief chance to ride it. Just picked up a 95 vmax 500 project for the wife, and have another opportunity to pickup the 96 vMax 600xt for a good price as well. Just hoping for some pros and cons before the deal passes by.

Thanks in advance.

The 600 motor is rock solid. I have one in my Mountain Max. It is a little thirsty as far as gas goes, but most of this vintage are. The rear suspension on the XT will be better then the one on the Exciter.

While not a Yamaha guy since the '80s...If I had to choose between those two I agree with snowmoer I would take that 600XT over the Exciter, more power and a lot better suspension all around.
