Price varies by year and model. A stator for my 2000 ZL would run around $500.

What it is? The stator is the assembly which houses your lighting and ignition coils. The coils are mounted on a plate, and that assembly is called the stator.

Where it is? The stator is located under the flywheel, usually on the pull starter side of the engine. Remove the pull starter assembly, and the flywheel will be under there. Remove the flywheel, and you'll find the stator.

BTW - I would suggest taking the sled to a shop to have them pull the flywheel. Unless you have the right tool, you'll just be asking for frustration... :(

Here's a pic of the stator - on my 2000 440 Panther...

I was in the process of replacing the primary ignition coil, so that is why it is un-mounted in the picture. Note the burn mark on the top of the coil, near the (blk/red) wire on the right. That's what was wrong with it... it was burnt wide open.
