i have a 1993 xlt 600 and i have the extra 8 in there right now and i was lookin at an extra 12 to put in it and i heard u need to drill holes for the extra 12 to fit my sled... do i really need to drill holes to make this 12 fit or can i just put it in???:confused:

I had the same sled and was thinking of doing the same.
the holes were to move the support brackets forward for the rear suspension linkage.
at the time (about 4 years ago) that kit went for 600 bucks, I figured it was'nt worth the money since I was getting rid of the sled the next year.
something you might want to think about also, you raise the back and more weight is shifted forward. that means some mods to the front suspension might be needed.

A FREIND OF MINE PUT ONE IN A '91 650 HE WENT TO DEALER AND BOUGHT ALL THE BRACKETS FOR AROUND $100 BUCKS AND BOUGHT THE EXTRA-12 ON EBAY FOR $350 TOOK A COUPLE OF DAYS TO MEASURE AND DRILL. FRONT ARM BOLTS WERE UP BEHIND FOOT REST WHEN DONE MADE ONE HELL OF A DIFFERNCWHEN HE WAS DONE DESPITE BEING TOLD IT COULDN'T BE DONE
