Checked the timing today 6 Deg Advance at 1500RPM
18 Deg advance at 6000 RPM
6 Degrees at 8000 Rpm
Spec is 6 Deg at 1500 and 11DEG at 8000 so the timing (CDI) may be a problem however that still doesn't explain all the heat concentrated at the resonator any Ideas Teckies?

Does anyone have access to a graphic of what the curve should look like for this engine 1998 600cc Big Block.
