I have a Formula plus engine that has a 4 magnet flywheel. I tried hooking a 6 pulse tach to it and it reads low...Shows no rpm at idle and only 2500 at half throttle. There was a 6 pulse Bombardier tach on it before, it worked but it bounced around alot, the needle was hard to read and its pretty small. Thats why I figured I'd swap it out for the 5" Polaris which is a 6 pulse off a 2002 700.

My 95' Polaris also has a 4 magnet flywheel but uses a 2 pulse tach.

I've read that 6 magnets use a 6 pulse tach, 4 magnets use a 4 pulse. But this doesnt seem to hold true for my polaris...4 magnets, 2 pulse.

I've also read that the older ski-doos used 2 pulse tachs. I tried a Polaris one and it read the same as the 6 pulse.

I have the 6 pulse polaris wired after the regulator. Do I try the 2 pulse Polaris before? This is seriously getting to be insane. Ive got 3 tachs and none will work right...
