ive got two 3/8th mile race tracks practically in my back yard. one is asphalt and one is dirt....so most of the weekends in the summer i'll be watching sprints, hobby stocks, and modifieds running circles

my bro and i take a week off every year and go back packing for a week. this year we will be going to yosemite (years past: glacier national park, mt. rainier national park, isle royal national park)

then come fall i have season tickets to U of M (ann arbor) football. so i'll be flying home for 8 or so home games....hopefully d!ck-rod does a better job of coaching this year and blue gets back up in the 8, 9, or 10 win seasons.

probably the most enjoyable thing i like to do after washing the truck is turning on the garage radio, pulling out the lawn chair, a six-pack and relaxing in the drive way. i've got an awesome view of the evergreens (woods are toward the west so i get awesome sun sets) and every now and then i see the bald eagle that nests just a mile or so away.

The "off season" is honestly more of my "ON SEASON!" I get to take out the beast! 450 hp and 479 ft lbs of torque! So no offense stejus but I wouldnt doubt Im putting out 300 ft lbs at idle! seriously! The dyno couldnt engage any lower than 3000 rpm, but by 3k it had 430 ft lbs! max of 479 ft lbs, and at 6400 rpm when we shut er down it still had 417 ft lbs!! Now THAT is a flat torque curve :)

But dont get me wrong, Im not bashing your car. I think its a very good looking car and the mileage, ride, and handling are lightyears ahead of my old hot rod. I just get WAAAAAY more enjoyment out of taking an old non running farm truck and turning it into a masterpiece that can blow the doors off most anything that pulls up next to me! I cant justify (or afford) spending $45k (total guesstimate) on a car that I cant work on myself, has only 300 hp, and costs 500 bucks to swap plugs on. But if I could afford it would I drive that thing? Hell ya!

The truck is my #1 passion, and I was into hot rodding and building engines WAAY before I had even sat on the seat of a snowmobile. I started the truck project at 15 years old and after 2 1/2 years had completed a complete frame off restoration (restomod) and it was my daily driver for 2 years of high school during the summer! racked up LOOOTS of miles on that thing and it was the best time of my life! Its now on its 2nd paint job and the 3rd engine Ive built for it! Nothing wrong with them, but you can never have TOO much power right?! :) I plan to make it to all the car shows I possibly can this year, and do some sweet scenic drives with my girlfriend, she loves this thing just as much as I do! Maybe with a little luck my old mans truck were building will be on the road by late summer as well!

And of course all of this depends on how many hours were working during the week. Summertime unfortunately turns into a lot of mandatory 50+ hour weeks. So between work, hot rodding, car shows, and as many parties as I can TRY to squeeze in, my summer will be over before I know it! I can already tell! Winter sure didnt take long to pass!!!!

sounds like i got about the same story as everyone else. 50+ hours of construction, get ready for fall with some bow and rifle practice, lots of fishing, beer and campfires, and now enjoying my new motorcycle. check it out in the car and truck section. also some coyote hunting, turkey hunting this spring, and come fall, lots of bowhunting and a some gun deer. oh yeah, and building a project go-cart with a polaris 500 engine. got half of it done last year, now it just needs to be finalized.
cruzr, you need that thing tinted man!!! get some 5% tint on those windows! that'd look sweet!

It is tinted. 20% all the way around. And with a black truck with black interior it looks like 5%. The reason it looks light in that pic is you only see the back window, and it has light coming through the windshield. The crappy part is when I had it painted by a buddy in auto body school, he completely F**KED the tint up bouncing the window off of every single regulator and linkage inside the door. Boy was/am I pissed about that. Thats one of the things on the ever so long to do list. I will include a pic where you can tell its tinted. Very tinted. Legal limit is 35%....

And to Indyryder, you can have your 4x4 version, but it wont come from me! I always think those guys with HUGE lifted trucks and 44" tires are compensating for another area where they are lacking.... :) no thanks!

**edit** no giving me grief about the truck being parked on the snow. It does NOT get out during the winter, it was just out because I had just gotten it back from the body shop getting painted. I was actually still in college and living in Duluth at the time so my old man took a couple pics of it to send to me so I could see it. I was so excited I took that Thursday off school (there wasnt school Fridays) and drove the 2 1/2 hrs down to my parents to go see it! and on a side note.... if your going to paint something, dont cut corners. dont go the cheap route, save till you have the money to do it completely right, or you will regret it. At least if your a perfectionist you will....

haha. yeah looks nice. i'd have to agree with indyryder though. i love a big 4x4. built my own in high school but sold it before college. nothin like drivin a truck that's twice as tall as any other vehicle you pass. and having the ability to climb snowbanks and drive through lots of lots of mud! haha nothing like it! lots of fun :)

HAHA believe what you want buddy. How many girls does a ratted out muddy leaky lifted truck attract? Actually let me reprase that, how many girls who DONT chew and have chest hair do those trucks attract? My point exactly...

Ive got a couple friends with off roaders, and Ive gotten to have my fun with them so its not like I havent experienced it. Its fun and all, Im just not all about breaking parts every time I turn the key and having a truck that looks like sh*t from beatin on it thru the woods and having it covered in mud all the time. Sure its fun, but it wont win the hearts of the ladies over, and it sure wont get ya noticed at any car shows!

I see both points! Best case is to have a big mudder and a truck like cruzrs!! I always see trucks on CL around here that say, "you deffinantly wont take a girl out to dinner drivin in this truck, but youll never get stuck"! haha

haha what do i care. i'm married. there are plenty of 4x4 trucks out there with more power than your 383. but i'm not bashing your truck man. i do like it alot. i would just rather have a 4x4. a 2wd don't get you no where up here. and if i own something then i use it. not store it for the right weather. haha other than my sleds.

Hey no worries man, I hope you know not to take is personally either, as Im not. we just have conflicting opinions, and there is nothing wrong with that.
BUT :D to back up my opinion, half the reason I like 2wd trucks so much is because they can use that power! like you said there are many 4wd trucks out there with more power than mine, and that is very true! My engine is considered modest by todays standards with guys running 1000+ horsepower on the street. But 450hp in my truck is going to SMOKE a 4wd lifted truck with 550 hp all day long. MY truck is 3980 lbs with me driving, so its just a touch over 3800 lbs. Now take the iconic mud truck, a mid 80s (hate those trucks..sorry) K10 lifted 8" with big tires and 550 hp. That engine has to move a 6500 lb truck, spin TWO driveshafts, a transfer case, and an extra differential up front. That sucks SOOOO much power its just not worth it in my case. (but like i said thats my personal opinion, and Im entitled to it, and your entitled to disagree) I would much rather have 450hp with gobs of torque down low to get htat truck moving FAST! I cant even keep the cig lighter in its hole because when it does its 1-2 shift its so powerful and firm, that the cig lighter goes flying out and smacks the back wall of the cab right between the seats.

That is unless I have the stereo system in there, which I didnt have in it last summer because of limited driving. Its rocking 2 infinity perfect 12s with an alpine mono amp pushin 650 watts continuously to each. 1 farad capacitor. Also an alpine 4 channel 250 watter running the 6 1/2" round speakers up in the kick pannels and the 420w max 6x9s I cut in the doors. and let me tell you, amping 6x9s and the regular speakers with an external amp vs the amp in a CD deck is the BIGGEST difference in the world. Holy cow does it scream! I cant even run my Escort Passport Radar detector in the middle of my windshield like most guys, because when the subs are hitting at full capacity the center of my windshield is flexing in and out by like 3 1/2"!!!! seriously! and that radar detector just gets OWNED if its in the middle, and its a $375 dollar unit so Id rather not wreck it:cool:
