Spark Plug closed gap

Hello,
Last weekend I was driving my sled when it sounded like I fouled a spark plug, so I changed the spark plugs, and it starts up and sounds good now, but looking at the spark plug the ground electrode is hitting the center electrode. So that is terrifying. What should I check to see if the engine is still OK? Do I need to plan on re-building it, or could I test the compression, and ride it easy and see how it goes? I was thinking the only thing that could cause that is the piston going too far up and hitting the spark plug, which is not supposed to be possible.
My sled is a 2010 Polaris Rush 600 with about 4,700 miles on it.

Thanks,
Alex

Look down through the spark plug hole and see what you can see. A lot of pitting on the head, chances are you have bigger problems. Probably a chunk missing out of the top outer part of the piston. Not enough to lose much compression, but enough to cause damage.
