Hello all, I have a 1998 skidoo mxz 670 and It is idling very high on occasion. I have been a little worried because usually that means it is running lean and the problem needs correction so you dont blow it up. Its wierd though because when i first start it it idles around 1500-2000 then after a couple minutes idles up to 3900 just before the engagement of clutch at 4000. I checked the plugs to see if they were white but they were pitch black. So that must mean its running rich right? I didnt check boots or crank seal yet but i would think the plugs would be white if there was a problem? Any comments on if this is normal or should be fixed would be great!

I have the same sled only a 97 and it should not be idling that high. Mine idles at about 1500. The clutch engages at a little over 4000 so that is not good to be idling at 3900. I dont know what to tell you because if its running rich it shouldn't be idling that high. You definetley have a problem though .
