After all the trouble I've had with my Arctic Cat I'm sick of spending money on it to fix it so I'm gonna sell it. So I'm wondering if anyone knows what a 1996 Arctic Cat EXT 580 EFI blue books at. It has reverse and a 2 inch paddle track. Also this last summer I put a new drive clutch, drive shaft, and left and right drive shaft bearings. I put a few other new things on it too. And sense I'm selling this one i was wondering what would be a good sled to buy. I do mostly mountain riding but occasionally do some trail riding. i don't want a brand new one but it's gotta be reliable. I don't care make model year or size. Just wanting some advise.

Blue book value is $1110 although you could probably pull more toward $1300 with the right buyer.

The problem with Blue book is that those prices are usually Way off! Atleast in some places! Around here that 96 580 is worth about $600!

I would try and get 1300 or 1400 for it.

remember: you can always lower the price, but good luck with raising it

It depends on how much i get out of mine so I'm not sure yet. Probably 2 to 3 thousand.
Here's the pics of it. I got bored of the original Cat colors so i painted it

haha i love the paint!

you could get a nice 02-03 for that kindof money if you look hard enough, but again it depends on your area and since its snowing right now itll be a little spendier. i got my 2000 rmk 800 for $1500, and my 07 rmk 600 for $6000, and ive seen deals on 04 ski doos for $3-4000, and on the gen II rmk's for $2500-3500. you might be looking for an arctic cat, and you can usually find a nice mountain cat for around the same price. 00-03 summits are also great sleds for the price, i ride one often and love it.

this is all in the seattle/tacoma area, so your prices could be alot different.

What sled would you recommend for me. I've been riding sleds all of my life so I know how to ride. I would like to have a little bigger sled than i do now, don't want to go any bigger than a 700. I would like to have a track that was a little longer also. Like i said earlier I do a lot of mountain riding so I'm not sure which sled would be the best. I've heard good things about the ski doo summits but never rode one.

You would have to repaint it black to even get 6? The 97 is worth more and every year newer is more yet!

well, my buddy that i often ride with had a 700 summit, and ive ridden it alot. i love it, its comfy, easy to carve, and very powerful. You would want at least a 144" track if you were going to ride in the mountains. If i had to recommend a sled from that era, it would have to be the summit, 00-03, 600 or 700, 144"+ track.

if you're not anti polaris the 97-98 700's were DAMN good sleds

yes the triples are the BEST.. i dunno about you, but i hate the chassis of that era. its too low, too wide, and easy to get stuck.. that why i recommended the doo. its just a little higher, easier in the powder, and damn powerful too.

im not so sure about those triples lol. the XLT was decent, but underpowered unless you piped it and even then they were still heavy and well.......they were still a triple..... the ultra 680 was about 110 hp stock where the domestic twin 600 was around 110 as well and LOTS lighter, the domestic 6 and 700's were ANIMALS with just clutching and proper jetting. as for the chassis, i agree to a point, they are wide and low yes.....but i can actually get this sled out of spots were my buddy gets his dragon 800 stuck, its all about proper setup and rider ability. the ZX chassis ski-doo's handle TONS better than the polaris indy chassis, THAT i will whole heartedly agree with. but i was born and raised a polaris guy so im a little biased. haha

im a polaris guy too haha, ive never owned a doo or a cat. but i really like that doo chassis, and when my triple was running it was FAST. it was thee ultimate sled for jumping and racing, 136 track with 2.25" paddles (yes i know thats too big for the chassis) it sounds like a raped ape.

and im just going off of my experience with the wedge chassis, i dont like it very much at all haha. and you must be a waaay better rider than your buddy with the dragon haha cuz those things are amazing if you know how to use them.
