Anyone know what the story is on the Rev 500. How does it compare to the 600 (isn't the 500 actually a 597something anyway). If there is no big difference in the two and with the insurance rates for a 500 lower than those for a 600, it might be worth looking into perhaps? Not to mention the lower retail. Anyway, looking to buy a new Rev and just wondering what's up with this 500.

Yup it is actually a 597cc motor. Its the old seriesIII motor from the old 600's. The only real difference is top end. I've seen postings of about 98mph top speed. I've seen 110 indicated, but I'm sure in a straight out race it would be very close.

I think the 500ss was skidoo's way of handleing some of the issues with the new 600HO motor's ring problem. Depending on your insurance company yes you can see a big difference in price. I know with mine I'd actually pay more for the 500ss, because they insure by displacement CC's, not type.
