Hi guys,

I bought a cheap trailer and rehabed it.

How do i go about registering it in MA when all i have is a hand written bill of sale ? I want to figure out what i have to do before i go running around in circles!

Your most accurate info will come from the State DMV. Call them and ask them how to proceed. They will know the laws and will let you know what is required.

Most likly you can register it as "homemade".
If it is anything like NY, you will need a weight for the trailer, capacity limit and a safety inspection.

I don't know the capacity/ weight, it is a two place trailer. Where can i get that info? Or can i just guess?

Who does the safety inspection the dmv or the insurance company?

Same place that does your car inspection.
Usually for a two place it will be 1000 lb.

The axel is likely rated at 1500lbs and the empty weight would be 500lbs!
If you have replaced the deck then it is a home made trailer and they will give you a vin tag to put on the tongue!
