When riding at high speeds 85mph plus with the tach approaching 8000, I experience sudden lack of acceleration. The engine seems to be performing fine, but the power is not transferring to the ground. To recover I have to hit the breaks hard and then everything is fine. I took it to a dealer and they could not duplicate the problem. The track and chain are not loose. I have had friends try it and experience the same issue. This has been going on for the last 2000 miles or so, and I am just wondering if anyone else has seen this problem and how they resolved it.

Thanks

do the rpms drop, raise, stay constant when the lack of acceleration hits?

sounds like something to do with the clutches to me, probably the clutches not shifting all the way out as efficiently as they should.

i would say your driven is shifting out and may be sticking, not backshifting soon enough. you should take it apart and check it, even if it snaps back without the belt on, open it may be sticking.
