I've got a '79 TX340. I put a new primer bulb on it last week to replace a leaky old one. I found that this primer bulb starves the fuel and prevents the machine from running as it can't keep up with the fuel flow at 1/4 throttle. Did these machines originally have primer bulbs or was this added by a previous owner? And do primer bulbs have different flow rates? I figured that if it was sized for a 1/4" fuel line it would work - but it doesn't.

Should not need one at all.
When the carbs are right it should start up withing 4 pulls cold.
Clean the carbs and check that the chokes are working/adjusted properly.
