My 2002 Deep Snow manual shows .028" for the 500 engine using Champion RN2C plugs. I have used NGK BR9ES as a substitute, you could even go to BR8ES, which is a little hotter and may resist fouling a bit better.

Alright, I went and got some new ngk’s, old ones were champion RN57YCC. New ones are ngk BPR9ES plugs. Will those work?

The BPR9ES plug is a protruded plug, and is a cross match for the RN57YCC. But if that year 500 doesn't require a protruded plug, the electrode may be too long. For the 2002, the P plug is a match for the 600, 700, and 800. The BR plug is a match for the 550 Trail and the 500 engines. If the plug doesn't contact the piston, it will run, but the spark may not be in the most optimum place in the combustion chamber for best performance. You may want to call a dealer and make sure, as I don't have any documentation for the XC, although the engines should be the same.

So I put the BPR9ES In because Dennis Kirk’s website said the correct one is BRP9ES. But the sled would bog right away. Put the old one back in and it didn’t do that anymore. And the exceccive smoke went away with the new one so i guess the spark plug was my issue but for some reason it wouldn’t go with the new one? Any ideas?

Personally when going to NGK for those I use Iridium plugs like the BR8EIX or BR9EIX they will last longer but they cost more. I would run NGK as those were what Polaris recommends now and have for a long time for those Indy 500s, is it the liberty engine or the silver Fuji Engine? If it is the silver then the Iridium plugs come pre-gapped and you don't mess with those gaps or it will screw up the plugs.

Well it’s a Fuji liberty and I put the plug in that Polaris recommends that says on Dennis Kirks website. The BPR9ES plug is what they recommend for my sled. I put it in and it starts and idles good but I hit the throttle and it wants to die. Why is it doing this, the throttle works with the old one just fine though. Could it be how I tightend it or what?

Interesting that Polaris specifies a different plug for the RMK 500, the XC 500, and the Polaris Classic/Tourning 500 in 2002.

DK's site is correct, your engine should take the RN57YCC plug which crosses to the NGK BPR9ES.

Some sleds don't like one type or the other, if the NGK is not working in your sled, try the Champion. Or like Coolhand suggests, maybe the irridium ones. I've only had one picky sled, it hated the Champions and ran great with the NGKs. THe rest of my sleds did equally well on which brand was cheaper (or available!)

No such thing as a Fuji Liberty. Fuji engines are silver in color the Liberty engines are red in color. IF it is the silver Fuji then run the BR8EIX or BR8ES as I have run those for years in those Fuji Engines with great success.

I meant liberty had a little typo lol. Yeah I’ll have to get new champions I guess my sled doesn’t seem to like the ngk

Yeah maybe my sled just doesn’t like the ngk plugs. I’ll maybe try some new champions see if it runs a bit better. Atleast I found my problem it seems with the smoking. Did normal 2 stroke smoke on the ngk and when I put the fouled plugs back in it smoked alot again.
