Hey guys,

This is my first post on here. Been lurking for a while but just never registered until now.

My question to anyone out there that may have done it, has anyone converted plastic skis from another yamaha sled to fit on the vmax?? I know you can buy skis from USI, Kimplex, etc but I would rather not spend the money if I dont have to. I bought a pair at the grass drags that were near my house and they bottomed out so I culdnt use them. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Chris

Are you switching to an older style ski or trying to upgrade to a newer style? the reason i ask is becuase there are usuallly a retrofit bracket throught the dealer if its by the same manufacturer thats what I had to do when I went to plastics on my 91 arctic cat to the newest stlye used on the f series sleds.

Im assuming the skis I got from the grass drags were from a newer style sled. Ive seen pictures of newer style Vmax's with the same skis but obviously not the same style suspension. They fit width wise after I ground down the collar but the bracket wasn't tall enough for the ski to move up and down. Unfortunately I couldnt get a retrofit bracket from the dealer because they werent sure what machine they came off of before.

depending on what skis you bought, either the saddles or your shoes at the base of the shocks can be modified to fit. i have done it both ways, as well as fabricating new saddles to accomodate the tss suspension.

Do they have the aluminum saddles? If so very easy to do. Put a set from a viper on my 96 vmax xt and they look great. Heres a few pics. CCC

The skis fit with no modifications?? The ones that I had which I just recently sold had an aluminum saddle but like I said they bottomed out and the holes would not line up.

Thats to bad you sold them. Those are the ones you need. Yea it's a quick mod where you cut out a hole in the saddle to allow the spindle to clear. Cant even tell its not stock. If you get some new ones and need the directions let me know. Forgot you have to join to see pics. I'll post some up. CCC

I have Cat plastic skis on my Yamis
The difference is the Cat uses a 7/16 bolt.
Polaris uses a 3/8 bolt other wise they are the same!
The Yamis use a 10mm bolt, the Polaris skis will bolt on but you will need spacers.
