Last year the spiral Baffle in the exhaust resonator broke loose resulting in severe overheating and poor performance( what else would you expect right) This year with less than 100 miles on the replacement resonator similar things are happening again. Severe overheating ( Blue /white flames out the exhaust) melting belly pan Other than a defective resonator what could possibly cause the can to get bright cherry red like this without melting down the engine (It still starts and runs well) Timing ? Lean condition? Most things I can think of would have destroyed the engine by now.

If you are lean, the engine will not run for a long time. Check immediatly the carb adjustment. the 600XC 98 carbs are very complex to clean-up. There's any stranger sounds with the blue/white fire? Maube the choke doesn't close correctly...
It can be anything.
Go to your dealer is the solution
