I have an old polaris sled from the mid 70's that my aunt gave me. I'm trying to find out specifically what year, make and model it is. Can I tell this information from the vin number? Also, do they make snowmobile repair manuals (clymer?) for snowmobiles that old? Thanks for any help.

76 Colt

I have an old Colt and have tried to keep up with the older Polaris sleds. But a pic can help. Maybe you can post one or something, eh? Is there no tag on the tunnel or anywhere on the sled? The year should be on that, if it's there. You can find manuals somewhere for it, like ebay or something. I have seen alot of the old manuals on ebay, and not too badly priced. Good luck with it.

polaris has master repair manuals for polaris back to 1972 if this helps at all. on the tunnel there should be a date of manufactor stamping on the throttle side.

hey guys i would like lots of help with my sled...i read ur other meassages and seeing if i could get more info and sorry boys but if its really apooropriate i could go get a pic. i had seen it at my neighbors and i had been snowmobiling for a couple of years now. i have been switching on sleds and it seems for some reason i like polaris. k so i wanted to no if u guys could tell me what year, oil mix or is it straight gas, and if they got good reputation. k thanks alot hope someone has information want to get ready for winter ealry this year....

If it is a Colt, look on the right side next to the foot well for the ID tag.
