Should the oil pump lever move at the same time the throttle slides do?

My slides move about a 1/4 in. before the pump lever moves. If I still have your attention SEG, would you mind confirming my whole cable adj.
Back out idle screws and drop both slides down, then take up slack with throttle cable adjustment [maybe leaving alittle]. Then adj. pump cable at the little barrel on the end of the cable if I cant get it with the cable adjustment shaft. What about the slack created when the idle screws are set in?
I probably should have just asked but I want to get this right? Or, if anyone else knows for that matter?

First the throttle slides should be resting on the idle screws, and there should be around 1/8 inch of play in the throttle lever before the slides start to move. Once that is set, set the oiler to move just as the slides move.
