my sled (1998 polaris indy 500-only 600 miles) wont run any higher than 6500rpm. im maxing out at 30 mph. doesnt have the get-up-n-go that it used to. changed the plugs and that helped a little, but then it sat for about a week and its right back to where it was. overall it runs pretty boggy. secondary clutch? head gasket? any help will be greatly appreciated

Check the plugs, you are looking for a cardboard/chocolate brown. Cleaning your carbs and clutches might help, sounds like your clutch is not working properly. Also check for wear on the weight arms and roller bushings while you are in there. There are instructions in the how-to's section of this forum.

Could be the clutches biding, and a lack of back shift. Like trying to start from a dead stop at 2nd gear, in a car.
