Hi all, I have a 2007 skandic WT 600. This is the first sled I've owned and I'm new to engine maintenance in general. The guy before me always mixed oil in the gas which I've been doing so far this year at 50:1. However, the low oil light alerted me that something wasn't right and I discovered this thing has an oil reservoir that is less that half full from the top.
Can someone give me some basic knowledge on what oil I should put in there?, how full should it be?, and should I keep mixing oil in the gas after I fill it?
Thanks

It should use 2 stroke oil in the reservoir. Klotz, Blue Marble or my favorite Fowler Extreme. You could also use Skidoo oil and while at the dealer talk to them about your sled. Up to you. But you shouldn't have to mix 50-1 in the gas if it has oil injection. Are you sure it's working correctly ? Does it smoke with reckless abandon ? Stinking out the wife and the neighbors ? If so then you might be adding oil to the gas for no reason.

Put a mark on the reservoir and run a fuel tank of gas through it. Does it use oil?

Also, the oil light is also the brake light, make sure the brake isn't dragging. Could be just a switch.

Oil light should start flickering while riding at about 1/4 tank, then come on steady once it gets down a little further.

Oil injection system on the recent sleds (~1990 and up) is very reliable and I wouldn't mix if it is actually working.
