I have a 98 f3,600 . All of a sudden it is hard to start ,can get it running with starting fluid , runs great of miles thsn all of a sudden it drops power , than comes back to life when playing with the throttle . Sometimes it just quits . Can restart it when holding throttle half open , any ideas were to start?

Sounds like you need needle and seats replaced, but you could start by cleaning the carbs.

I cleaned the carbs but didn’t change yhe needles and seats , dearer here was stupid and ordered wrong ones so i put the old ones back in . Snd it hasn’t been right since , so i will start there. Got it started today with either ran good and being stupid again , thought it might be bad gas , will tear into the carbs , thanks

Don't use straight ether. That was made for diesel engines. If you are going to use starting fluid then get the stuff with oil mixed in or use chainsaw gas down the cylinders instead to start it up.
