AFTER I PUT THE RPS ON MY SLED I RODE IT ABOUT 75 MILES THE OTHER NIGHT AND NOTICED A SMELL OF BURNING PLASTIC MY EXAUST PIPE GOT HOT ENOUGH TO MELT A LITTLE BIT OF THE EDGE OF THE SCREEN KIT (STOCK SCREEN KIT WICH IS PLASTIC), I TOOK SOME ADVICE FROM AN AVID RIDER WHO TOLD ME TO SHAVE THE RUBBER GRMIT DOWN AND SEE IF THE SPRINGS WILL PULL IT DOWN ENOUGH AWAY FROM THE COWAL , I ALSO PUT SOME HEAT TAPE ON THE AREA THAT WAS GETTING HOT .DID I DO THE RIGHT THING? HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THAT PROBLEM IF SO LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU DID? THANKS

i've got an 800 with twin pipes stuffed under the hood!! they're melting the screens very slowly, so i'm not too worried about it, but i am going to put some heat tape on it also. check you're speedo cable too. mine was getting a little too close to the pipes and i didnt want to melt my cable off, so i moved it over to the other side of the hood and zippy-tied it to the headlight wires.
