It depends a lot on what you want the sled to perform like. I personally, being a trail rider, would rather have less than 144. I don't know what the horsepower is on that 540, but being older I am going to says that 144 studs is probably more than you would want on an 82 SRV. To me, 96 sounds like the right number for that sled. I feel personally that 144 studs should be reserved for sleds close to or upwards of 110 horsepower, which I really doubt the SRV is putting out.

I agree with cobra on this one, that is an awfull lot of studs, even if you had a 2003 700 or 800 even, that just seems like a bit much.
