I just installed a new throttle cable for my carb 95 indy 500. The hood presses down on the throttle cable which will raise the rpm’s to 3000 and the sled can even take off on you when pulled. I tried fixing the cable down to the air box but it made the rpm’s go up.I have it synced and set as close as possible to the original position of the slide nut thing on the carb.

Is there an adjustment I can make like throttle free play or something of that concept like a dead zone to fix this?

You need to figure exactly where it is pulling on the cable. Even making an adjustment might not be enough and you'll end up with extra wear and tear on the cable.

The cable should be pretty solidly connected at the carbs and at the throttle lever so it won't move at all. Did you remember to put the C-Clip back in at the throttle lever.

That clip is important and without it, it can cause other issues as well, like riding down the trail and suddenly you're at half throttle whether you want to or not. C-clip holds that cable solid. That is most likely what is causing your issue.
