I am in the process of replacing a new cylinder in a 84 Polaris Indy 600 and the new cylinder does not have the hole for the oil injector check valve.
I am going to just premix my fuel so I don't have to worry about messing up the cylinder by drilling it for the check vavle.
My question is can I just disconnect the cable that moves the lever on the oil pump or do I have to remove the whole worm gear that runs the pump altogether.
Thx

The gear and it's bushings may be lubricated by the oil from the oil tank, so I believe it would be best to remove it entirely, otherwise it may seize. Some sleds also have crankshaft bearings that are lubricated via the pump. You may want to check on that as well.
