I have a 1973 arctic cat 440 and I'm having troubles taking out the drive shaft to install a different track. I have a parts sled I'm robbing the track off of and I can't figure it out. Should the bottom gear in the chain case come off? I can't seem to slip it off. Any tips????

yeah, surprisingly all these years later it is still the same set up, unbolt the sprocket and it should come right off, however if it has been run hard and without oil a few times it can be stuck right on. you might have to use a three prong puller, if you dont have one an unorthodox way to do it is to pull the three bolt bearing holders off both sides and then just jerk the shaft through to speedometer side and the pressure will pop the sprocket off
