I’m finishing up my build on my 98 XC 600 I have almond gold primary, switched to 10-60 weights and silver blue secondary in 2nd hole. I’m wondering what’s a good gearing set up it’s stock gearing right now. I like a good even amount of power all the way threw the power band. I’m thinking of going to 23-40 gearing. Any ideas?

I wouldn't swap the gears out until you get a chance to ride it now that you have changed the clutching. Change one thing at a time. That way you don't end up chasing your tail trying to figure out what did what.

Going up a tooth on the top will gain you about 3-4 mph on the top end, but you will be slower getting there.

Gearing is usually spot on, there were a few Yamis with over gearing.

Unless you add 50 hp gear changing isn't going to 'give' you anything!

Now you want to talk about adding 50 hp let me know.
