I have a 1981 artic cat and i had a spark at one point in time and now i do not. I had to replace the ignition switch because it was coroded and did not give power to the starter motor. Now that i hooked up the new switch i have no spark. I am wondering if i wired the switch wrong. I am wondering what the two black wires are that come off the ignition. If i hook those together should i get a spark? Also if i hooked those two up so that they received power from the battery will that screw anything up?

Take the spark plug out. Put the spark plug in the 90 degree elbow thing that connects to the spark plug top. Make sure the spark plug threads are touching metal. Start the sled or pull the cord and see if there is a spark coming from the spark plugs. This might work, but if not, checking your spark plug wiring from ignition to the spark plugs. If this dosent work, check your starter motor or hell get a new sled if necesary.

Edit: If not sprk, try new spark plugs in it, and then start the sled again.
