My 88' exciter 570 died on me a few days ago while out on my first real ride after getting the sled running from being in storage for numerous years
I have figured out the reason to be a stuck piston ring:dunno:

So I've been researching top end rebuild kits.......I found this below note on Dennis kirk website

Nikasil Bore - Sleeving or Replating required for oversizes
The Yamaha exciter 570 1987-90 and Exciter Deluxe 570 1989-90 have cast iron bore, not Nikasil and do not require replating or sleeving for oversizes

I'm currently thinking that IFI understand my metals right then a Nikasil sleeve would NOT be magnetic as a cast on WOULD?!?!?!?!?

Which means I have a cast bore/sleeve!?!?!?!
