I'm pretty upset, the sled was running great the other day, then all of the sudden there is this popping sound, I take out the spark plugs, and one of the pistons has a hole about an inch in diameter. any one else ever done this? I am trying to decide wether to get the original 640 motor repaired or to jsut put a 340 or a 440 in it, it would be really hard to find another 640.

Why wouldn't you just rebuild the motor yourself.. it would be much cheaper than getting a new one or doing the mods for another engine.. If you choose to rebuild it, it would be smart to clean the carbs or rejet them so you dont lean out and burn it again..

Thats actually what ended up happening. We're replacing the piston now. We have to try and clean out the cylinder too, as their is a bunch of junk from the old piston in there. I agree, after looking into it, replacing the entire engine would'nt have made much sense. Thanks for the advice!
