Hi I just got a new track for my 89 Yamaha Exciter 570.

I am planning on tackling the job of changing it by myself and have never done it.

Can anyone give me any pointers or direct me to somewhere that would have some good info, and is there anything special that needs to be done on this sled...

Thanks!

in the how-to section there is a link for track-changing. It is on a newer sled, but the same basics apply to yours.
Thats how I learned to change mine the first time. Not to hard at all. Get a warm place to work on it and take your time. The hardest part for me was getting the skid back in. I've since learned to sit on it to compress it and tie a rope or rachet strap to hold it down a couple inches, then put it back in.

Since your going to have the rear suspension out anyway, its a good time to rebuild that too . I would replace any loose or noisy wheel bearings, they are cheap insurance. The hyfax slides, lube all crossshafts, maybe replace shocks. Inspect all the parts for cracks or bends.
