I see it time and time again... "check and clean your carbs".

What exactly is involved? Do you have to disconnect all the cabling, or do you just loosen the boot and take it off with all the cables still attached? What do you take apart, and what do you check for?

I've had car carbs apart (many years ago) and I know you can really screw them up if you don't know what you're doing. I'd just like to get a simple walk-through on how to clean a sled carb...

Which carb type are you wanting to know about......that would help a bit. You've got the old "tillotson" and "walbro" carbs that had integral fuel pump attached to the bottom and were butterfly style venturi. Then you have the Mikuni "slide needle" type that have fuel bowls on the bottom of the carb and seperate fuel pump. Oh and maybe a third class that fell in with the butterfly types, these had accelerator pumps on them that would squirt fuel with every pull of the trigger similar to what the automobile carbs would do. MY old Yamaha GPX433 had two of those monsters.

I'll let the other guys take over from here.
