I was taking apart a Polaris P-85 and could not get the spider to break loose. I figured that I had to break the Loctite bond, and then it should come off. Since I don't have a heat gun, I put it in the oven at 500 F. According to the Loctite site, it takes 482 F to break it. Worked like a charm, but it still took probably 400 lbs. to break it loose. This clutch is shot however, one of towers was broken in two.

A torch would have done it! I tell people all the time it is almost not worth trying to get them apart! Even with the right tools sometimes they will strip the threads!

I knew this clutch was junk. I was taking it apart for parts. Didn't want to use a torch because I was working on it in the basement.
