I have a 96 xlt and it seems the lower chain case bearing seal is leaking just wanted know if it was possible to remove the bearing with out taking out the chain case and any other tips or tricks anyone has for putting it back together thanks
oh man, it can be done without removing the chain case, but it aint no fun. You still have to remove the rear suspension and the track. Pull the cover and the gears, and the fun part, trying to see and get to the snap ring that holds the bearing it, once you get the snap ring out it isnt bad, tap the bearing out from inside the tunnel (and the seal, some models use a seal, some rely on the seal thats in the bearing.
Thanks i did it this afternoon tho and it was just the seal was still tricky gettin it back together tho anyone got a trick to line up the drive axle easier for the next time ive got to do it
