i have a 99 xc sp 700 and when i go to gas it and take the slack out of the throttle cable and barely open the throttle not even enugh to make the rpm go up and then let go of the throttle the engine acts like the kill switch was on for a sec it only does this when i take the slack out and release it...theres a little pin i noticed that the thumb throttle touches. what is that pin and what does it do?? not a huge issue just wondering whats wrong and if theres a fix

Yep, there's a safety switch built into the throttle. If you don't have the throttle cable slack adjusted properly it will kill the engine when you release the throttle abruptly.

There are two of those switches. You can simply cut them off and it will still work, just no safety mechanism left if your cable breaks and the throttle sticks wide open.
