I just bought a 96 zrt600 and was wondering what was the best setup for clutching? It has a bog off the line so i took one of my extra primary springs ( black magic orange) and put that in the primary, it didnt help the bog so im sure that it probably needs to be rebuilt (not getting much performance out of this sled) I have went through the carbs and fuel system, its not that, so my question is what is the best weights/spring combination to use? Im not looking for top speed more hard cross country racing, I also have a lennco lightning roller secondary i could use if someone new the right setup THANKS IN ADVANCE

I know this may sound like a weird answer to your question, but, have you changed your belt? I switched my clutch spring from the stock yellow which engages at 4600rpm's, to a red spring that engages at 3800rpm's. Well, I got a slight bog in the low end, and couldn't figure it out. Well, I just thought to change the belt to see if that would do anything plus, don't know if it was a new belt when I bought the sled. The new belt is what it needed. I have no bog at all. From what I have heard from friends is, when the belt needs replacing you will feel a lack of power in the low end. Just a thought for you.

No i havent checked the compression, but i will, i know the clutching isnt right, what rpm is it supposed to spin at? i didnt get a owners manual and my other sleds are twins, but i think that it isnt right, its running at 8000 and thats lower than my other ones are at for maximum HP.

It should spin 8,400 to 8,600. The reason I mentioned compression is that my zrt and my friend's zrt both had similiar problems (low-end bog and not spinning high enough. We both had to rebuild our motors after checking the compression. Both are high-milleage motors so I guess they were due.
