I just finished putting together a 94 xt580. Most of the parts were given to me in boxes and buckets. Since the stator and everything related to it was in a 5 gallon bucket, is there a secret to timing this beast? I got it running (good compression) but it lacks power.

Also, is this going to be the gas hog I think it will be?

Sorry guys. It looks like I have Cranius up the anius. It'a a ZR 580. I don;t think that should make a huge difference. As I stated earlier, It's assembled and running (poorly). I have no idea where the stator plate should be. Help help help!

Timing should read 30* @ 5000 rpm. (you will need an automotive timing light and a battery to power it)

The stator is the plate with the coils on it that is behind the flywheel.

PERFECT!! Thanks a lot for the info. I have a light and it won't be a problem. I'm thinking of installing a Tempa Flow system. Is it worth the effort and money? Should this be a new thread?
