My Dads sled (1994 panther 440 2-up) is having some problems

We think the track or something is slipping?

When you gun it and try to take off fast is starts clunking and sounds like the track drive thing is missingand slipping.
It does this whenever you try to take off fast or are going up a hill and its working hard.

We tryed tightening the track, but it didnt wokr ?

It could still be the drive cogs for the track. You need to see if they are worn enough to make the track slip on acceleration. They should have very defined teeth on them. Also check the tension on the drive chain in the chaincase. If the chain is loose enough, it will slip on the sprockets. There should be an adjuster on the chaincase to adjust tension.

Sounds like a loose drive chain. Check it before you take out all of the gears! It can be very expensive if its let go too long.
