Hey guys I just bought a 1999 Indy xc 700 to fix up and when I was going to pull the carbs out I saw this PVC pipe thing above the carbs and I have no idea what is is or what it does. I have never worked on a xc and was wondering if anyone knew anything about what it is or what it does. It is attached to the carb boots not the actual carbs. Here are some pictures of it.

Homemade Boost bottle, find one that a aftermarket maker makes. Someone just made one out of junk pvc pipe is all. They are a good thing to have as it balances out pressure between the carbs.

Like Coolhand said. The boost bottle takes pressure that is "left over" from one carb and puts it to the other carb, giving a slight "supercharging" effect on the other cylinder. They do pretty well on the Keihin carbs, are not as useful on the flat slide Mikunis.
