I've seen many different oils used in the chaincase, including 2-stroke oil (done in a pinch on the trail.) But just because you can, doesn't mean you should. I would use chaincase oil from Polaris, as well. It's got the right additives and is the right viscosity to keep the chain links lubricated and helps keep rust at bay inside the chaincase.

Seen that as well but it isn't right! Yes in a pinch out on the trail to get home use that if available and then drain/replace ASAP.

But for normal changing of the oil then Full Synthetic Chaincase Oil. I use AMSOIL because well its AMSOIL, its 16 bucks a quart which is cheaper then Polaris as well.
