I just bought a 1985 Yamaha 440 SS today and I am new to the forum. I have wires that are related to grip heaters (as far as I can tell) that are not connected and I can not figure out were they connect. Does anyone have a schematic of the grip heater wiring? Thank you in advance.

the wiring basically goes like this:

wire from a power source to the switch's center lug.
wire from the low switch position lug to a rectifier.
wire from that same switch lug to one wire on one grip.(yes, they are piggybacked)
the other wire from that grip to one wire on the other grip.
the remaining wire on that grip goes directly to ground.
the remaining lug on the switch goes to the other lug on the rectifier.

I am not seeing a rectifier anywhere. Maybe that is why I can not figure it out. I guess I should buy a manual now that I am a snowmobile owner. Thanks for the info.

see if the rectifier is located under the panel where the grip warmer switch is located, just forward of the key switch. its about 3" long, should be whitish in color, and maybe a 1/2" wide. the newer ones were a black plastic style with fin looking ribs.
