I have a 1980 Arctic Cat Jag 3000 F/C that would get a spark on every pull for awhile, then it would not for a few pulls.I'm not sure which one is causing the trouble, the CDI,or the external coil.Would anyone happen to know how to test these with a multimeter?Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Besides the connection being dirty, a CDI is either good or bad (usually...). Intermittant CDI problems are rare. Does it have one coil or two?

1980's didn't have a switch. Disconnest the key and kill switches and see if it's still troubling. A faulty key switch can do it.
