  1. Polaris xc 700 belt wear

    Polaris Snowmobiles
Its caused by the belt slipping. If you ride your sled hard and especially if you have a lot of studs, the belt is going to slip sometimes and cause the hourglassing that you are seeing. You can try going to a harder belt. Polaris offered 2 belts: a soft one and a hard one. I think that one...
  2. top speeds??

    Trail Riding
Ive been up to about 50 mph on my '01 600 XC. The trails are pretty tight in NE Wisconsin where I ride, so even 50 mph is pressing your luck. If its the lake, I'll take it up to 100 mph or more.
  3. Break In Period

    General Sled Chat
Id give it at least 2 tanks of fuel before you run it wide open for a long stretch. Even during the break-in period dont run it at a constant throttle position all the time and make sure you give it hard bursts of acceleration every now and then. You want to give it those hard bursts to seat...
  4. 2002 xcsp yellow bumpers ?

  5. Polaris Xlt 600

    Polaris Snowmobiles
Check to see if it has crankcase drain plugs. I know the newer Polaris engines do, not sure if the Fujis do. 90 psi is really low though, Id be a little concerned about that.
  6. how do i adjust idle?

    Polaris Snowmobiles
Keep in mind that when the book says 1600 +/- 200 rpm, if its idling at 1800 rpm then thats the correct idle. I wouldnt mess with it if it were me. You can use the knob thats on the carb rack if you really want to adjust the idle though. Make sure the engine has fully warmed up before you...
  7. 2008 Yamaha Venture Lite

    General Sled Chat
The price is way too high.
  8. T.o.r.s ???

    Yamaha Snowmobiles
It stands for "throttle override sensor". Basically it senses when the throttle sticks and responds by cutting the timing to keep the sled from going out of control. Its always been a problematic system and a lot of people simply bypass it.
  9. Sparke Plugs

    Engine / Drivetrain
Fluke. Simply using different sparkplugs (no matter how expensive they are) is not going to make a noticable difference.
  10. Ski skins verses carbides

    Control / Traction Center
The carbides cut through the ice/snow and help the sled to turn by giving the skis more traction. Ski skins are not going to help your sled turn better. The elimiante wear on the bottom of your skis (the paint would wear off and then the steel skis would rust) and were popular in the early...
  11. idk what the problem is

    Polaris Snowmobiles
Id suspect that a bearing has gone bad.
  12. First Real Snowfall For Area Of Milwaukee, WI!!

    Trail Condition Information
You can start by not using starting fluid anymore. Thats a real easy way to make an engine go KA-BOOM! It sounds like a fuel pump issue to me. Take the fuel pump out and check the diaphrams. My guess is they are brittle and its not giving the fuel pressure that the engine needs.
  13. XCR or XCR SE

    Polaris Snowmobiles
The XCR was in the wedge chassis, the XCR SE was in the aggressive chassis. The XCR had a single exhaust pipe, the XCR SE had triple exhaust pipes.
  14. Wisconsin In state of Emergency!!!

    General Sled Chat
Actually, they wont close the interstate because they cant agree on whose jurisdiction it is and who has the authority to say when it should close.
  15. First Real Snowfall For Area Of Milwaukee, WI!!

    Trail Condition Information
I hope you arent trail riding, because none of the trails are open.
  16. when did you or any kids start riding?

    General Sled Chat
I started riding when I was 12. Back then there werent any 120s though. It really depends upon the kid. If you think your sister is able to handle a 120 at her age, I say go for it.
  17. First Real Snowfall For Area Of Milwaukee, WI!!

    Trail Condition Information
Its a bit early for that much snow. We need it to get cold and stay cold so that the lakes will freeze up before we get dumped on with snow.
  18. What brand of injector oil do you use?

    General Sled Chat
I use Citgo Sea and Snow. Its inexpensive, it works well and it keeps my exhaust valves pretty clean. For less than $20 a gallon, it cant be beat.
  19. What was your first sled?

    General Sled Chat
    '90 Polaris Indy 400.
  20. Is Ethanol causing problems?

Ive never had any problems with ethanol blended fuel. Its only a 10% blend (at the most) and even when running 87 octane in my sled it runs fine. IMO, there is a lot of misinformation out there regarding ethanol.
