    That's pretty awesome, Bear!
  4. snow flap gets caught in track when I reverse!!!!!

    General Sled Chat
I've seen people using bungee cords to help that. Some of the flaps get a set to 'em and are more prone to getting caught by the track. My SKS does that sometimes. I used a heat gun to soften the flap and get it a little less angled to the track and that helped a little... I may be going the...
  5. Won’t start up

    General Sled Chat
Does the rope retract? Does the engine turn over, or is the starter not engaging the drive cogs? If the engine is not turning over, it's likely the drive cogs inside the starter mechanism are sticky and not activating. Taking the recoil off and cleaning the dogs and relubricating them may get...
  6. 1996 Vmax 500 Clutch Engaging at Idle

    Yamaha Snowmobiles
Dang, Coolhand, hope things are PEACHY soon!
  7. 2002 Viper Stator or Reg

    Yamaha Snowmobiles
I'm not a Yamaha guy, but I would start by testing for voltage out of the stator and at the light sockets. Usually when a regulator fails, it allows high voltage to wipe out all the bulbs, so if your bulbs are intact, and no power at the plugs, that would point to stator to me. Bad bulbs, high...
  8. My 1996 Polaris Indy 500 Classic bogs down under a load

    Polaris Snowmobiles
How do the clutches look? Is the belt riding just outside the outside diameter of the secondary? If the belt is low in the secondary, that will cause a bog, similar to trying to take off in second gear in a car... check that first. There should be an adjuster ring on the outside of the secondary...
  9. New sled troubleshooting 09 rmk 600

    Polaris Snowmobiles
You may want to check out Snowest regarding priming the fuel pump. If you're getting 0 pressure, maybe the fuel pump is dead... this link explains how to prime it with a battery. Good luck, hope you get it before the snow gets here...
  10. 96 xcr 600 won’t go over 25 mph

    Polaris Snowmobiles
another thing to consider.. could be electrical. Next time it happens, stop and pull one plug wire at a time to see if the idle changes. If you pull a wire and theres no change in idle, that cylinder isn't contributing. You can also check for spark on all cylinders as well. It may not hurt...
  11. 1994 Yamaha vmax 600 carb troubles

    Yamaha Snowmobiles
cleaning carbs is a yearly ritual for most guys, especially if you have to use that alcohol-infested fuel... sigh . It doesn't take long for the varnish to gum things up or the alcohol to corrode the metal.
  12. Carving

    General Sled Chat
Along with leaning, you have to counter-steer, which is not very intuitive. If you want to carve to the right, pop the sled to the right while steering the handlebars to the left. The left ski is no longer in the snow so has no effect on direction, and the right ski behind the spindle is acting...
  13. 97 formula 500

    Ski-Doo Snowmobiles
I would also check for carb boot tears and check the PTO crank seal for leaks just to rule those out.
  14. Polaris engine for sale

Dang, that sucks. You may want to post a location so folks that are interested to look at it will know a general area where you are... and maybe a price and pics? Good luck and welcome to the forum
  15. Machine dies

    Engine / Drivetrain
Could be fuel or electrical. Are the plugs wet or dry when the engine dies? Is there spark at the plugs when it dies? Check those and that can help narrow down the issue. Welcome to the forum!

2004 Polaris Trail Touring, Sport Touring would be my guess. The 2004 Pro-x 550 Fan had EC55PM080
  17. Xtra 10 skid bearings question

    Polaris Snowmobiles
If I remember, it takes 6004 2RS shielded bearings for the rear axle and somewhat larger 6205 2RS shielded for the rest. Polaris doesn't separate out the bearings as a replacement item, they want you to buy the whole wheel/bearing/circlip/spacer instead. You also can get the plastic spacers...
  18. New to sledding! Need help!

    New Members Forum
Compression would not be dependent on the bad gas. It wouldn't hurt to drain it and to remove the carbs and clean them completely, too. But to get an idea, I would go ahead and check compression. Pull both plugs, hold the throttle wide open, pull the rope until the gauge stops climbing...
  19. Xtra 10 skid question

    Polaris Snowmobiles
There are tons of pics on the web of xtra-10 suspensions, you should be able to find one to see if what they have is an xtra-10. The xtra-12 is also very common but is less desirable. The xtra 12 was used on the Indy 500 in some sleds, so make sure to grab a good pic off the web to verify.
  20. 92 Arctic cat jag 440 choke problem

    Arctic Cat Snowmobiles
Good point. Those jets are really small and it does not take much varnish to gum them up to make them unusable.
